Syrian official: Israel has declared war.
A series of explosions hit the Al-Hama area of Damascus early Sunday, escalating the tension between both the Israeli and Syrian government. The Syrian government made an official statement declaring that Sunday’s attack marked the second Israeli airstrike within three days on Syria.
Foreign Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al Mekdad told CNN in an exclusive interview that the attack on Syria by Israel is a “declaration of war” and commented that the Israeli government has been working with al-Qaeda within Syria. The attacks by Israel have escalated tensions between the two nations leading to Faisal al Mekdad statement ensuring that “Israel will suffer again” for its attacks.
Shortly after Syria’s public condemnation of Israeli airstrikes in Damascus, Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan, commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces said that “as a Muslim and friendly country, we stand by Syria and if there is need for training, we will provide them with necessary training.” Ever since the beginning of the Syrian Civil War, Iran has been a strong ally of the Syrian government and today the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast reassured this alliance by stating that he has no doubt that Syria and its allies will give “a crushing response to the aggression of the Zionists.”
