Ella Fitzgerald the Queen of Jazz.
A special happy birthday to a personal hero of mine, Ella Fitzgerald. Noted for her purity of tone and her scat singing, she captivated the world with her talents which led her to sell over 40 million copies worldwide and win 13 grammy’s over the course of her 59 year old musical career.
For her astounding and barrier breaking career Fitzgerald was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Ronald Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George H. W. Bush.
Ella Fitzgerald is remembered as the Queen of Jazz and considered Jazz royalty. She still remains an iconic figure in American history, for the role she played in the Harlem Renaissance and for the countless barriers she broke in the music industry.
